Founded in 1939, Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG is the only Swiss company that develops, builds and sells aircraft on all continents. With over 1600 employees and more than 100 apprentices in ten different trades at its headquarters, Pilatus is one of the largest employers in central Switzerland.
The PC-24 is the first jet-powered business jet to be developed and built entirely in Switzerland. Like other models from the Pilatus Aircraft Works, the new business jet can operate on short natural runways, among other things. The rollout of the PC-24 was duly celebrated. In a large celebration with an impressive air show, various musical performances and speeches, the various Pilatus aircraft models were presented to the public, as well as the solidarity with Central Switzerland.
The Buochs airfield offered enough space for the 25,000 visitors. Thanks to the numerous loudspeaker arrays distributed along the runway and the 4 large LED trucks (2 x 30sqm / 2 x 50sqm), the audience had perfect visibility and sound from all angles. Another highlight, from a technical point of view, were the live camera images from the cockpit of the PC-11 glider during the flight show of glider aerobatics world champion Johan Gustafsson (wireless video).
The extensive terrain posed some challenges to the technology for this event. In addition, the stormy weather during the set-up phase and the meteorological outlook for the event were not ideal either. However, thanks to good weather, professional radio communication with frequency management and the real-time network for audio, video, data and communication, these hurdles were also successfully overcome.
