Skyguide at the Swiss Museum of Transport

New exhibition at the Museum of Transport Lucerne

Skyguide controls the densely packed Swiss airspace and ensures that passenger aircraft, military jets, paragliders and hot-air balloons do not collide with each other. At the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne, visitors can now experience in a playful way which requirements are crucial in terms of safety and monitoring. auviso was allowed to implement the technical aspect of this exciting exhibition.
The parts of the exhibition: An interactive ground projection on 48 m2 with a game in which everyone becomes a virtual air traffic controller and, through their own movements, steers the assigned aircraft along the given route to the destination airport. In this way, the aircraft are guided to their destination airport without colliding with any obstacles. Live air traffic is projected onto a large 3D relief of Switzerland and its neighbouring countries. Additional information such as airports, airspaces, airways, etc. can be displayed via an interface.
How the pilots in the cockpit communicate with the air traffic controllers at the airports is explained along the depicted flight from Zurich to Geneva. Numerous monitors have been placed to explain the individual job profiles of Skyguide with appropriate videos. The languages German, French, Italian or English can be selected via a button.
The implementation of this project was tough and challenging due to the tight deadlines and the lack of space in the hollow ceilings. Even under time pressure, our specialists realised a perfect installation with innovative solutions.
