The University Children's Hospital Zurich sets new standards

The new digital information system, consisting of 70 displays, supports and guides patients, relatives, and employees.

The new University Children's Hospital Zurich is setting new standards in pediatric medicine. In collaboration with the client, we were able to realize a modern digital information system that provides orientation and support for patients, relatives and staff - a technical innovation in the service of well-being.

In this project, we installed around 70 Samsung Professional Displays, which were strategically divided into three main areas: patient distraction, public information screens and dashboards for staff.

The patient distraction displays were installed in the treatment rooms of the University Children's Hospital Zurich and show video content specifically tailored to children, creating a pleasant and calming atmosphere. In this way, the technology helps to provide young patients with a positive and distracting environment during their treatments.

The information screens in the public area of the children's hospital provide visitors and staff with up-to-date information about the hospital and its services. The dashboards, in turn, provide medical staff with a comprehensive overview of operational processes in real time, which supports the efficiency of patient care and facilitates the work of the entire team.
The ConnectSignage digital signage software was used to manage the content on the displays, which enables both manual and automated content and therefore guarantees maximum flexibility in content display. A total of around 60 licenses were activated for the children's hospital to ensure smooth and customizable content playout.

We were able to implement this project in just three months and put the system into operation on time at the end of October 2024. With the new digital information system, we are supporting the Zurich Children's Hospital in its efforts to be not only medically but also technologically up to date and thus optimally meet the needs of patients, relatives and employees.
The system is supplemented by a modern ticketing system, which has been installed in the patient pharmacy and at reception. Patients and visitors use this system to draw tickets, the numbers of which are then shown and called up on displays. This solution, which was provided by Qsome, ensures a clearly structured process and contributes to a stress-free stay.

In addition, 300 digital door signs were installed in the building, primarily in the ASS and LLF areas. These door signs display current room bookings, which are managed directly via Microsoft Outlook. Thanks to the Joan solution, a seamless and user-friendly integration is guaranteed, which optimizes room utilization and facilitates organization.

We would like to thank the Zurich Children's Hospital for their trust and the opportunity to be part of this pioneering project.
