Group rooms with full media technology equipment
For Hall 4.0 of the Basel Exhibition and Congress Center, we were commissioned to implement a smart media technology solution that combines maximum flexibility with intuitive operation. The result is an environment that provides optimal support for a wide variety of event formats.
The Messe und Congress Center Basel belongs to the MCH Group and is one of Switzerland's most important trade fair venues. Hall 4.0 was created specifically for workshops, seminars, and breakout sessions. The aim of the project was to equip the twelve flexible group rooms in this hall with modern, user-friendly, and flexible media technology that meets the technical and functional requirements of a wide variety of event formats.
The implementation was carried out with a clear focus on intuitive usability and high technical quality. Each of the group rooms was fully equipped with a centrally controllable iPad, which can be used to control both the lighting conditions and all media technology components. The rooms can be connected individually or together, depending on the desired room setup. For presentations, each room has two AV-over-IP encoders that can be used to transfer content directly to the projector. The audio output can be selected via the iPad or a mixing console that distributes the audio signals to the speakers in the respective room – for clear and intelligible sound.
In addition, two Shure Axient handheld transmitters and two bodypack transmitters per room enable flexible use in the audio area. If required, the image content can also be displayed on a reference screen.
Thanks to predefined lighting presets that can be accessed via iPad, the lighting can be quickly adjusted to suit the respective usage situation. Eleven of the twelve rooms can be operated in parallel, thus offering ideal conditions for events with several small groups.
We would like to thank Messe und Congress Center Basel for their trust and professional cooperation in this project.
