The profession of AV technician combines manual work with technical precision, planning expertise and close customer contact - and this is exactly what makes every working day varied and challenging.
Start of the working day
After a quick coffee, today's team gathers in the workshop and discusses the day's assignment together. They are going to the residents' services of the city of Lucerne, which is receiving a customer guidance and ticketing system. With our technology and the corresponding software, processes are to be made more efficient and the workload of the department's employees reduced.
The schematic already provides an initial overview of the scope of the project. In addition, details and ambiguities are clarified directly with the project management. The order is therefore clear and the required material can be put together and stowed in the vehicle.
Arrival on site
When we arrive at the site, we first greet our client and get an overview of the situation. If anything deviates from the planning or if there are any unanswered questions, these are discussed directly with the project management and, if necessary, the customer. Spontaneous customer requests or important information are also taken into account - because "the customer is king" and since the integration of technology into the architecture of a historic building is being realized, extreme care is required.
Now all open points have been clarified and we begin with the provision and preparation of the technology. Tidiness is essential here: a structured workplace ensures efficiency and leaves a professional impression. "Mise-en-place" is what you would call it in the kitchen.
Starting the installation
We define the work steps, divide them up within the project team and start with the actual installation. During the work, there is a regular exchange with the team and the customer to ensure that all specifications are met. Good communication and teamwork are important for the successful implementation of the installation.
The rough work is done first. We install three large main displays and 16 small digital switch labels. We use a concrete percussion drill and correspondingly solid brackets to mount the large displays. The smaller switch labels require a more delicate installation. These are screwed directly into the wood using a custom-made bracket. We also install a ticket printer on a mobile stand at the entrance. After the installation work, the cabling, commissioning and programming of the components begins so that they can communicate with each other via a network connection.
Handover to the customer
Later in the afternoon, we are nearing completion. The team tidies up and cleans up - an important part of a professional appearance.
After the successful functional check, the final handover and initial commissioning takes place together with the customer. We test and explain the system. The operation of the technology must be easy to understand - a detailed introduction is part of the service. This leaves enough room for questions so that the customer feels confident in using the new technology.
The handover is a special moment. It is often here that the enthusiasm for the smooth implementation and the impressive quality of the technology becomes apparent. For the team, this is a confirmation of the work done and a motivating conclusion. The city of Lucerne was also very satisfied with the implementation and the end product.
Post-processing and reflection
After a successful working day, we return to the workshop, tidy up and reflect on the day. Is there room for improvement? What challenges were encountered? A debriefing with the project management ensures that the team learns from every experience and can make future projects even more efficient. This rounds off the day in AV technology at auviso.
