Media Technology at the TITLIS Tower
At 3,020 metres above sea level, we have fitted the TITLIS Tower and its access tunnel with state-of-the-art media technology. Large-format LED displays, dynamic lighting control and tailored audio solutions support the various uses of the newly accessible tower.
Background and Objective
The renovation of the transmission tower on the TITLIS created a publicly accessible space featuring a viewing platform, dining options, and retail areas. The various zones presented specific requirements for the audiovisual equipment. In the access tunnel between the mountain station and the tower, the challenge was to integrate large-format LED displays under specific climatic conditions and to combine the visual content with lighting and sound. At the same time, we were tasked with equippingthe dining and retail areas in the tower with appropriate media technology.
Results and Added Value
In the access tunnel, we installed two LED displays measuring 10.8 × 2.02 meters and 7.2 × 2.02 meters, which are used by the client’s partner companies for marketing purposes. A special coating protects the displays from the humid conditions in the tunnel. Via a media server system, the dominant colors of the visual content are automatically detected by the DMX-controlled lighting and projected onto the ceiling as ambient lighting. An audio system complements the media technology infrastructure throughout the entire tunnel.
We have also equipped various areas in the TITLIS Tower with media technology. On the eighth floor, Joseph’s Restaurant features an audio and microphone system. On the second floor, displays and an audio system enable visual and audio presentations in the lobby and the Rolex Boutique.
